Is there a word for when a compound word has two components that mean basically the same thing ie "puppydog" or "sodapop"
I'm Jeron (rhymes with Erin). A trans girl, apparently. I dabble in basically everything. World Record Holder. Girl-King of cats. Fledgling Goddess of Hunger

probably affirmative compound or something like that
also sodapop is rly funny to use as an example cus that's the original name, and "soda" and "pop" to refer to the stuff is two independent shortenings that got popular in different areas, but soda's already a word (for "fizzy" or "abrasive" colloquially, from the Sodium of Sodium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate)
So, the antonym of "oxymoron"? It seems "pleonasm" might be a good fit.
