I'm currently specializing in Demonology, however some of you may be familiar with my previous work in the field of Dream Magic. In today's lecture I'm going to be covering common misconceptions about succubi and demons in general. I'll be answering most the most common questions, so please save any additional questions you may have for the end.
Before I begin, I need to note that the field of Demonology is rapidly evolving, and there are still many unknowns that we could learn in the very near future. What I'm going to tell you today will be far from comprehensive, but it will form a very important knowledge base for your own research and communication with these entities. Additionally, due to my ahem preferences, my own experience is with succubi, however much, if not all, of what I'm going to tell you applies just as well to incubi.
Now, let's begin.
Now the most common, and most harmful, myth about succubi is that they drain your life force or soul. This is simply not true. A succubus feeds off of the energy released during moments of intimacy, either between the succubus and the possessed, or the possessed and their physical partners. Additionally, while sexual intimacy is a strong source of that energy, any form of intimacy is sufficient. Even just hugging your friends produces some of that energy, as long as the feelings of affection are genuine.
While there are many historical accounts of someone having an encounter with an succubus or an incubus, it is my belief that the most common of these accounts are false. The encounters in those stories are often non consensual on the part of the story teller. Consent is actually very important to succubi. For a succubus to feed, feelings of affection must be genuine. These stories also lack the elements of real dream encounters with spiritual entities. For those of you who have not yet experienced it yourselves, I am referring to the "semi-material" dream state, which is distinct from both normal dreaming and lucid dreaming. Those accounts were most likely simply sleep paralysis, which has a well known cultural aspect.
Succubi are often thought of as "sex demons", and while this is true, it does not reflect the whole truth. A succubus is a demon of love. A succubus experiences, and influences all kinds of love. Those possessed by or in a relationship with a succubus will be encouraged to love themselves just as much as they love their partners and friends. A succubus is also a demon of dreams. They interact with us by entering our dreams and altering them. It's important to keep in mind that spiritual entities are multi-faceted.
Now moving on to demons in general...
I've noticed the concern on some of your faces. The common belief is that demons are universally evil, but that is just not true. The claim that demons are evil is just as foolish as claiming that humanoids are inherently evil. There are good and evil demons, just as there are good and evil beings of all other types. This belief is the result of a centuries long propaganda campaign by christianity, and it's one that needs to be put to rest. If you believe that demons are evil, demons, and many other spirits, may simply refuse to work with you. And those that will work with you will be the ones with less than good intentions. You're only harming yourself.
The most well known cases of possession are malevolent, but there are many cases of benevolent possession that simply go unnoticed. I myself am happily and consensually possessed. As you can likely tell, I have no negative side effects. Malevolent possession is actually quite rare, as our natural mental barriers are difficult to penetrate. Most famous exorcisms were actually performed on the neurodivergent or disobedient. Exorcisms and banishings should never be performed without the consent of the possessed or haunted. If you believe that someone you know is malevolently possessed, take them to a skilled healer who can sense such things.
Ok, do any of you have any questions?
