Thinking about these extremely cool Greenlandic 5 Kroner coins, which were minted in Philadelphia by the U.S. Government during WW2 in 1944 for use by US forces stationed in Greenland, the Danish mint obviously unavailable to provide coinage.
I think I'm feeling inspired to make some posts about Greenland's history during WW2, because this is just the tip of it and I think even in general Greenland's history is woefully underappreciated.
