ok gang... corruheads... Corru Crew... I must break, The Forgetting Cycle1

In the near future I'm going to open a "corru.works" patreon-like page - a low-cost, low-pressure, probably single-tier tip jar with a few little bonuses for members.

I probably won't do this until EP3ADD1 is out, but all you corruheads out there are what makes C.OB and working on it so special for me, so I wanted to float it by you first!

Da Plan: it will be a place where I post more frequent non-spoiler WIPs, and maybe run polls for what to do on certain things - stuff like that! I intend to avoid anything like early access to updates or lore stuff, since the community experience and collective discovery is part of what makes C.OB special. (also - maybe we do a non-diagetic section on the site somewhere that's dedicated to supporters? like a little 'thank you' credits type thing)

I'm leaning towards using Ko-Fi Memberships rather than actual Patreon, since it seems like all I hear about Da Big P is bad news, and I've had good experiences with Ko-Fi so far... (but do tell me if that's a bad idea - despite its inherent VC evil, Patreon still seems to be, The Service, for this kind of thing)

but why...?? you see, C.OB will always be free no matter what, and I don't really do it for the money... but that's also why it's necessary! I want to keep making corru works, and devote far more of my time to them than I'm currently allowed! that said, even if only a small number of people hop on board, it'll still help me put more money into commissioning cool people for cool stuff to put on the webzone!

anyway that's the rundown!! let me know if you have any strong thoughts about this! C.OB is always gonna be free... this is just a matter of finding ways to accelerate the creation of the corru works without losing spirit!

1 The Forgetting Cycle
  • get idea of "i should start a patreon or something"
  • come to conclusion of "ok yeah i'll do it as soon as i finish and push this update because it'd be weird to do it when i'm in the middle of working on the update" (???)
  • push update and forget i was gonna do that
  • remember while working on next update
  • repeat
(???) ADDITIONAL UNHINGED RANT
my literal freaking pie-in-the-sky daydream is being able to work on corru works full-time - not just corru.observer, but future projects, better music, more art, god could you even imagine what we could do if i was full-time on corru and free of the Lv. 99 SOUL DRAIN from my job that's literally in hell? the entire RPG system was made in just a few days off I had during the holidays, EP0's content--excluding the site base which took longer to set up--was made in a two week vacation where i treated it like a job that had to get done... think about it! there's 26 of those things in a year!!

of course, that kind of growth wouldn't come immediately or easy, and isn't guaranteed - there'd need to be quite a few people subscribing for that to be feasible. but i figured, while we're talking plans, why not tell you about The Big Picture?

and you know, they always say not to make your 'hobby' your 'job', but i don't see corru.works as a hobby - it's like a duty, something i cannot go a single day without working on without feeling terrible (not out of some sort of grinding obligation, but a place of love), so it's not even like there's a mental barrier there - sharing this paracosm in a meaningful way is more important to me than almost anything else. thank you for reading hi hii hey it's me corru hiii i'm at the end of the rant too i just read that same damn wall of text... wtf? lol? who wrote this shit? did you like it? remember 2 like and subscribe!

in reply to @corru's post:

hi corru :) i think doing corru.subs via ko-fi is a pretty neaty idea... apparently patreon is even planning on changing the way they Do member exclusive posts, i.e literally just getting rid of the way you used to do it and basically make you run, like, a mini discord server on patreon itself? which sounds fucking weird i wouldnt mess with that myself. plus you already have the ko-fi so thats less steps to setting up the thing lol

I'm currently capital B Broke but if I had money I would absolutely put some towards corru stuff!! I don't really know much about the whole ko-fi / patreon thing but, like, corru.observer is so cool and good and definitely worth supporting as a piece of art :3
