i think in order to make good art you need to regularly consume something that's weird and bad so you can get mad enough at its one good plot point and try to do it better. it's important for the ecosystem of art as a whole that there's stuff that just sucks ass in completely novel ways. this is why doctor who is a good show, and why voyager got seven seasons

As an author and fan of children's books, I have a little "wish list" of things I hope to see in future media. And of course it's queer stuff but it's also how we approach teaching and sharing queer narratives with kids.

I understand why we simplify to kids that transness is realizing you like playing with barbies instead of reading superhero comics but I want to see trans stories that don't rely on gendered interests to talk about gender. Because it's obvious how that can get really limiting!
