yeah buddy me too
but if you’re looking to fill that gaping blaster hole, consider checking out going rogue 2e, my Rogue One-inspired TTRPG about war, rebellion, and making the ultimate sacrifice. going rogue 2e expands upon riley rethal’s Star Wars-inspired galactic 2e. while the base game is built to tell stories of charming, larger-than-life heroes, going rogue 2e uses galactic 2e’s mechanical foundation to instead weave narratives about troubled martyrs mired in messy, ethically gray conflicts who must face the possibility of making the ultimate sacrifice.
for one week, starting on today’s nov 25th itch.io creator day, you can buy the rogue two Andor bundle with both going rogue 2e and galactic 2e for just $18, over 20% off their usual combined price. and if you buy the bundle on the itch.io creator day, 100% of the proceeds go to riley and i as creators!
so how is this relevant to Andor?
going rogue was a love letter to cassian andor, whose character in Rogue One i became completely obsessed with. it was also meant to be in conversation with Rogue One, whose shortcomings—such as jyn erso and one-dimensional organizations power structures—inspired me to push a piece of fiction i already liked into territory that i felt it left unexplored. to my shock and delight, Andor has engaged Star Wars and its fans in that same conversation.
Andor’s depiction of the titular cassian’s journey from out-of-options cynic to committed rebel shows what jyn’s arc could have been—the exact thematic exploration i intended with the going rogue 2e playbook THE LEVERAGED. despite this playbook being originally inspired by jyn erso, i'm proud of how well it captures the cassian of Andor season one, who has yet to become inhabit THE SPY playbook that he will in Rogue One—a role currently being filled by luthen.
elsewhere, in its conflicts between mon mothma, luthen, and others in the budding rebellion, Andor depicts exactly the tension i tried to capture in the conflict between the new pillars of going rogue, THE PARLIAMENT and THE INTELLIGENCE.
while i could go on about this for so much longer...
i'd rather let you all explore it in play! after all, in the end, going rogue 2e is about the story you tell, and i hope that Andor fans everywhere find that your games and the conversations they inspire fill the quiet left behind without new Andor each week. so, next wednesday, consider passing the revnog, popping some peezos, and cracking open a going rogue game book with the comrades! p.s. / edit: i originally forgot to credit @yotsuben for the incredible weekly Andor meme i riffed on in the OP, so i want to say now: thank you so much!! i also forgot that i can edit posts on cohost, the website i work on, but now i remembered so here it is.
specifically, i am going to show you exactly how you make Andor characters in going rogue. here is my poor little meow meow luthen using THE SPY playbook. it's beat for beat. i didn't have to change anything. i wrote this playbook LAST YEAR.
like i said above, while the cassian from Rogue One inspired THE SPY, Andor season 1 cass is actually the THE LEVERAGED, the playbook i made based on what i thought would be a better version of jyn erso. he’s such a beautiful realization of what her character could have been.
also in this case the "connections" are basically just "a ride out of here" lol. and a job, i suppose. for however long that suffices…
