As long as people aren't using models trained on stolen data for profit, I really don't see the issue. I mean, that's not quite true, I understand the concerns about the financial impact to artists, but I think capitalism is the primary issue there.

it also leads to low-quality nonsensical, aesthetically-poor images that look like mush or uncanny valley. the fact that it's lazy schlock created by people with no/very limited creativity is insult to injury. I know my art sucks, but it's mine, not someone else's and I can be proud of that.
