from reading The Forums and etc i learned that two of the big traction issues i was having in the MX-5 could be solved pretty easily:
- stop engaging ABS
- stop downshifting so early
the latter is a bad habit i built from playing other games, the former is one that mostly just took practice and some pedal range tweaks, but neither would have necessarily occurred to me as being massive grip-losers. thinking about it in terms of weight-balance shifting actually made a fairly substantial difference in my ability to conceptualize why this was happening, which was a nice realization to have.
also the patch today apparently changes how ABS works on the mx-5 (it was previously pretty Bad apparently) so maybe that'll help somewhat, although i don't expect it to be a cure-all.
also glad that the AI drivers apparently got an update because i was going insane having them stick so hard to the racing line on their slow laps during qualifying. one of them made contact and spun me off the track! during fucking qualifying! so hopefully that stops happening lol
so far simracing is one of those things where learning One Or Two Things have been sufficient to overcome some of the largest hurdles i was facing. at a certain point after that it's just practice.
