bad news. i think fallout 76 might secretly be good now

anyway. i initially played it back in 2019 and was not a fan. this was pre-Wastelenaders update (the one that added NPCs) and it really felt kind of miserable to play as a result.

TURNS OUT: adding People fixed basically every issue i had! i still think itโ€™s extremely goofy that the endgame boss is a skyrim dragon but in general iโ€™m actually having fun playing it. fucked up!

in reply to @jkap's post:

yeah my biggest beef mostly comes from things that are trivial to fix in a normal fallout game, especially since iโ€™m coming into this off of uh. Heavily modded FO4

I've had a weird history with this game. I played it at release and tried as hard as I could to defend the good and potential that was buried in there. I stuck with it throughout its entire rebirth arc up to and past NPCs being added. and then they added a battle pass and I pretty much quit overnight because I didn't need another one of Those in my life

I was rooting for it harder than anyone I knew and then it became not for me in an instant, it's a bummer. but yeah, if the pass doesn't bother you it's genuinely a good game with a lot to see

I mean, you can add whatever patch or update you want. It's not gonna change it's atrocious launch, it's treatment of the players, everything to do with the atom shop, and especially Fallout 1st. Like people keep comparing it to a NMS situation, but at least with NMS you just bought the game once and weren't nickled and dimed for stuff that was already used in fallout 4. Even if everything I mentioned is better or fixed now, it doesn't change that they tried to do it, they had the intention to squeeze every cent out of its few players.

You can enjoy the game all you want, I'm not saying you can't, but that game has left a tremendously sour taste in my mouth, and I will never give it the time of day.
