the following is not an official corporate statement
we have got a very large number of new users, and thus increased usage, over the last 24 hours, which has been causing some server strain. we're going to try to activate everyone new today, but we'll be working in hourly batches to make sure the site can keep up.
we're really starting to hit the limits of what our current frontend architecture can handle, so we're also prioritizing some work to incrementally migrate to some New Systems that should be able to handle the load better. it'll be a few weeks until anything there is ready (i want to ship the bookmarked tag page we mentioned in yesterday's patch notes first) but hopefully it'll help at least somewhat.
i'm glad y'all are all here, even if looking at the new user number is a little terrifying. thanks for using cohost
