Decker 1.25 includes several bugfixes and minor usability enhancements, but the most prominent new functionality relates to color. Customization to the 16-color internal palette is now serialized as part of the deck, and it is now possible to switch Decker's palettes to 16-color mode, instead of 1-bit.

As always, you can try new versions of Decker directly in your browser. Don't forget that you can enable the toolbars in web-decker via the Decker -> Toolbars menu item!

I've been hesitant about adding this stuff to the UI for a while, because I worry that color takes away somewhat from Decker's aesthetic, but at the end of the day Decker has always been a paletted 16-color application internally; this just brings it a little closer to the surface.

i was going to say "color?? in a hypercard-like?? how INAUTHENTIC" but then i remembered that HyperCard IIGS exists. will decker support period-authentic alternating-vertical-stripe dithered colors though

At the bottom of my "nice-to-have features" list, coiled like a serpent, is "introduce a mechanism for applying an arbitrary fragment shader to cards".

As stated above, I do have aesthetic misgivings about color. It's entirely optional, though, and I think I will mostly stick to 1-bit creations.

On the one hand I'm terrified by this power and may have to avoid it, but on the other hand there's possibilities with regards to my more traditional aesthetic choices and the ability to customise the palette to the 16-color EGA palette...

This is huge though! That's rad!
