briefly logged onto bluesky and immediately remembered why i don't use bluesky. bad website

this isn't me being a Hater necessarily either. i would really love to enjoy using a social media platform that isn't this one (this one being my Full Time Job makes things occasionally contentious) but it really is just here and mostly tumblr, but tumblr keeps making sort of horrendous decisions and introducing both little and big things that make me question their longterm goals. it feels bad to have everything getting Actually Worse all the time and to be stuck only with the one that's my job.

i mostly enjoyed reddit (at least the sections i had created for myself via careful curation) but it turns out i mostly used it on mobile, so the death of 3rd party apps means i just haven't really been using it at all. oh well! can't win em all

yeah,,, im certainly feeling the reddit bit especially hard rn. relay for reddit just got paywalled but their implementation of it is attrocious. theyve paywalled even the settings page so i cant take the 1k+ filtered subreddits list with me either. there's no way to export it from the app ive been using for 5 years, and nwo that money is involved it seems like everything really is getting worse.

i'd even be willing to settle for not having an export feature but letting me look at the list again one last time. i can maybe take a screen recording, find an OCR library, extract the frames, deduplicate entries, and then manually go through and fix any errors from the OCR.

thats only sliiiightly less work than copying it over line by line from a "tap in the wrong place and it closes" modal. all the while - im trying to avoid being one of those screamy and entitled users that demand features for a niche thing but it really does feel like my half decade of preferences are being held hostage (not a lot of money but i am deep into an overdraft right now so it might as well be extortionate). absolute pain...

I haven’t logged onto Reddit since Apollo turned off. Pretty sad honestly, cuz there were a couple communities that I enjoyed being apart of, but the official app and the mobile site are so painful to use in my phone.
