MLB did everything it could to reach a deal with the Player's Union, but unfortunately we seem to be further apart than we were to begin with. We really did try everything; we locked the players out even though nothing in the CBA said we needed to, didn't talk to them for 43 days, didn't submit any good faith offers once we did start talking to them, tried getting a federal mediator involved purely for PR reasons, impose a fake deadline we made up for wrapping up talks, and cancelled the first 2 series of regular season games when we realized the union wasn't going to break.
This is a dark day for the sport and if the players continue this selfish behavior, they may very well end the sport as we know it.
