wednesday again? no problem

• we shipped the first part of the notification feed! comment notifications are currently in progress. you can now see how many people “like” your “posts”
• shares of adult content are now filtered correctly
  • this involved a near-complete rewrite of the adult content filtering system (most of that code was Ancient)
• comments from pages you have blocked no longer show up; this was an oversight on our part, introduced when we were fixing issues with comments from private accounts showing up incorrectly. we’re going to be adding more automated testing to help ensure content from pages you have muted or blocked doesn’t show up when it’s not supposed to.
• also there’s an emoji picker in the comment composer now 🙂😀😆😜😂😱😍
• finally fixed a bunch of bugs related to the post composer
  • if you add an image, it doesn’t prevent you from scrolling. you’re still not allowed to ask if we love the color of the sky, though.
  • the “report a bug” button no longer blocks post composer buttons
  • scrolling in general works correctly. whee!
  • you now actually get an error in the post composer when you attach an image that’s too big, instead of the upload silently failing.
  • this was entirely caused by css being fucking weird sometimes and partially by jae implementing the entire post composer design in like 12 hours over a single day. the lead up to alpha launch was Rough
• you can now use more keys to delimit tags in the post composer!
  • full list is now: comma, semicolon, hashtag, tab, and enter.
    • tab can still be used for navigation if you don’t have any pending text in the tag field

coming up on cohost

• support for pagination on your homepage! this should help page load times somewhat, as well as giving you better access to Ancient Posts — currently it contains at most the 100 most recent posts which are visible to you.
• comment notifications!
• work around collapsing shares without content has brought up some unanswered UX questions which we’re having trouble coming up with obviously correct answers to. we want to break down those questions to the point where we can seek input from users on here through comments + maybe a poll, instead of trying to solve them in a vacuum; expect to see more from us soon on that front.
