now that i can move my 3d printer (ender 3 v2) out of my cramped and hot closet, i'm putting in the effort to get it Working again. unfortunately, it is literally impossible for me to square the X gantry. i have tried maybe a dozen times at this point. can't be done. i have been able to adequately level the bed to compensate for this but it still frustrates me. think i have binding there too.

part of my incentive here is so that i can print the parts for my polaroid 110a instax conversion and thus not spend money on them. i am at this moment printing the World's Okayest Benchy, which is still the best i've been able to accomplish in months.

what a hobby

despite what people claim i remain unconvinced that it's actually possible to have a level X gantry with only one Z motor/lead screw, so i am relenting and just buying a second motor and printing some mechanical endstops to do a prusa-style Mechanical Calibration (stalling the steppers out at the top for fun and profit). i am hoping this at least fixes some of my problems. or at least gives me new ones, i'm getting tired of these problems.

That makes the second person I know fighting their ender 3. I hope whatever the fix is, it turns out to be something simple like tightening some bolts and not a complicated annoying process

i have a (very heavily modified) E3 V2
it is in fact possible to level the X gantry, but it refuses to stay level for more than 2 prints with only 1 Z stepper

Creality does sell a dual Z kit, i have one which seems to work great, only needed to level the gantry when i disassemble parts of the printer that mess with it

with dual Z driver mainboards like some of BTT's ones you can also auto-align using G34 if your build of marlin has that feature and you have a probe like a BLTouch (which btw i can't recommend enough too), although i haven't found the auto-align too necessary

as for how to level the X gantry for those 2 prints it stays level with one Z stepper, there's an eccentric nut on the inner of the 3 wheels on the right side, you can use that to tighten the wheels onto the vertical extrusion, and if you do that while holding the gantry level, it'll stay there for a bit

yeah i've got a BLTouch already (absolute lifesaver if for no other reason than to help tell me exactly how out-of-wack my x gantry is). i ended up ordering a BTT mainboard and a dual Z kit which i'm gonna hopefully finish setting up tomorrow (i didn't realize i'd need to recrimp some wires and i don't have the right tool :eggbug-pensive:). i'm running klipper and it's got a G34 equivalent. looking forward to getting it all glued together
