i don't keep up with The Hot New Shows or w/e but i do enjoy a good anime from time to time. all time fav is eizouken, prior to that it was ping pong, i think i might just like science saru a lot. i'm rewatching NGE right now with a friend who's never seen it before and can confirm it still whips.

I watched the original NGE series as released by ADVision, and then the 3 old movies. Never watched the new movies or Rebuild series. Those worth checking out, mate?

i'm watching the new blu-ray release from last year and the transfer quality is incredible. i watched the rebuilds as they came out (which meant i got the 9 year wait between 3 and 4) and 4 is a 5/5 star for me. absolutely incredible, the sort of conclusion the series deserves.

Awesome to hear. Thanks for the recommendations. I vaguely remember hearing something about the translations for the new stuff being lackluster, but don't recall the details. Guess it's time to wade back in.

yeah the newer localizations could be better (the new blu-ray set has the old localization as an option so i've been using that) but overall it didn't impact my enjoyment of the movies

hell yeah science saru! every time I watch something made by them I:

lose my shit because it's so. cool.
go "this is science saru isn't it? they just did That Thing with the camera angles/reflections/turnaround/etc.
