A few years before Geoff Barrow formed the iconic trip-hop group Portishead, some guys Barrow had known in high school in Portishead, England formed a band named "Airbus". When Portishead-the-band's first single, Sour Times, was being arranged, Barrow approached Airbus and asked them to do a "remix". The plan was he would give them a tape containing Beth Gibbons' vocal and a click track and forbid them from listening to the actual song until their version was complete. This was released on the single and later on b-side compilations as "Airbus Reconstruction". Airbus disbanded in 2002 and most of their material was only ever distributed locally in Bristol area record shops, a lot of it doesn't even seem to be findable online, so the Sour Times "reconstruction" is probably the single biggest impact Airbus ever had on the world.

The Airbus Reconstruction actually rules, I like it better than Sour Times' original version.
