the existence of a "max volumetric speed" setting in modern 3d printing slicers is the best shit for me. no longer do i have to worry about dialing in specific speeds for specific filaments, i can throw them all at my standard schmoovement profile, set the max volumetric speed based on what i actually want (TPU doesn't want to go faster than 40mm/s? easy: 40mm/s * 0.2mm layer height * 0.4mm line width = 3.2 mm3/s) and it Just Works. this shit's easy.

As a measurement, it makes so many things fall into place.

One value that's easy to measure lets you figure your max velocities even if you mess with layer height and width. And Slic3r derived slicers can save it in the filament profile itself to let you set it and forget it
