it's like clearcutting fires to prevent out of control wildfire. smaller discourses to keep larger ones from happening
Pro: Nobody's on the wrong side, because all image formats are terrible. Con: Almost every argument is "this is bad, because the software I use hasn't invisibly added support for it before I interacted with the format"...
