realized that a side effect of deleting my twitter is that i no longer have DMs, meaning there is no longer a way for people who don't have my phone number or discord to contact me.

SOLUTION: bout to fuck around and start using email for Communication again

i chosted something the other day and was about to be like "message me if" and then realized wait, that's not a thing here. then typed "DM me on twitter if" and was like wait, that's dumb, i shouldn't make people use that site to contact me. and it took me so long to even come up with alternatives for communication that i entirely forgot people used to use email primarily to talk to other people.

genuinely considered posting something like "my gpg keys are here, comment under this with your discord/email/etc, encrypted with my pubkey" but that's also... a lot of effort for most people

I think a lot of that effort comes from the fact that pretty much the only way to really work with PGP keys is through gpg on the command line, and like yeah that thing is really not user friendly at all, even for some of the more hardcore linux camp. it's got me thinking about way to make PGP more accessible to just general users - I think there could be a lot of value in that.

my only exposure to age was through sops-nix, where i'm using ssh-to-age to convert ssh host keys to age keys for use in secrets management in nixos deployments. maybe i should look into it a little more.

I've been thinking about this and realizing that I can just like, get a new email. I don't need to think about migration, if I have to I can like, Check Gmail but if people need to contact me that's on them and for everything else it's in the password manager if I need to Reset a Password or something.

So I guess this post is prompting me to go look at buying a fastmail subscription.
