back at work today after two days of Illness and a three day weekend beforehand, started on a very simple bugfix, got it done without difficulty but wasn't able to fully test it b/c after checking one case my dev environment fully shit the bed. took an hour to get it back! love when a 5 minute fix takes well over an hour b/c everything is broken all the time

DETAILS

docker mac on apple silicon has a bug that was (ostensibly) fixed in 4.16 where docker will randomly crash under high network load. this impacts me Fucking Constantly b/c i guess our dev environment generates high enough network load to trigger this. sure ok fine whatever.

so i update to 4.16.1 (current latest). no idea if the bug is actually fixed because the tool i use for actually getting into the docker network (docker-mac-net-connect, which is excellent barring this issue) doesn't work on 4.16! it hasn't been updated in over a year so may well just be Abandoned at this point. you fucking hate to see it!!!!!!!!!!

this fucking close to just getting the dev environment running on my home kube cluster so i don't have to keep dealing with this, even though i know that would cause a whole new suite of problems and likely isn't worth doing.

ugh god yeah it's always Fun when something simple takes forever because everything around it decided to break. for me it's always discovering visual studio decided to just not do something right inexplicably and now nothing compiles and it's giving me the worst errors ever
