It's a weird thing. I've got this project where I'm trying to honour all the songs I've ever written. And this song I'm working on, its not one of my favourites. I mean, it's fine, but its hard to really enjoy a song you wrote as a 15 year old when you're in your mid-thirties.

But what I like doesn't really matter because I still want each song to have a worthy recording.

So I've got to wear the producer hat - make each song the best it can be even if I personally don't enjoy the music anymore. But at the same time use any taste that I have to make decisions about the production.

Did the first pass on a new track today. It's an old song, I couldn't stand the lyrics so I took some new lyrics from my notebook.

I don't think this one will take weeks and weeks, might wrap it up in a few days.

It used to be called See You When I'm Sane Again, think I'll rename it Wicked

Lyrics at the moment:

V1
Flip a coin, I choose tails.
Save me from that face.
That's pressed into steel, so it all feels real
I'm kneeling in waist high grass

V2
Am I allowed, to grieve the rest
Or is it not the time yet
Is it always the time, to remember the lives
Of the children you sent to the cliffs

C
Have a rest, have a wicked time
Have a rest, from your wicked mind

V3
Time is a lie, that never happened before
Time is a memory you invented
So why would you care, about what's never been there
And who's thoughts can never be mended

The Chorus and V3 are unchanged from when it was an emo song in my first year of high school. But V1 and V2 are new. But I think it works really well together.

I'm usually hesitant to name songs based on the chorus, or what you'd expect. I don't know where that comes from.
