The instructor brought in objects that had been flattened with the instruction to try to nonetheless bring out a fore-, middle-, and background and the further hint that sometimes rather than making the foreground detailed it can be effective to make it absent.

These were done on a reMarkable tablet, which looks and feels really good when you're drawing on it but whose export leaves to be desired when you're using the "pencil" brush.

In a sense this one is a failure because the nominal assignment was to make a drawing of a bowline that would teach someone how to tie one, and this won't do the job. But I ended up thinking about how to draw a knot in a way that shows how the knot works, and I feel like I made a good start on that.

The instructor turned up decked out in costume armor, so this evening was all devoted to life drawing. But since he could only hold any given pose for like 5 minutes, all of my drawings ended up basically incomplete. I did get some ideas from looking at my classmates' drawings about how to do a better job of drawing quickly, so we'll see how that goes in the future.
