I still think about that game a surprising amount. The Speccy version was fantastic.
Racing and guns just never seems to work as a game. The idea of racing is to be in front, and the idea of guns is to not be in front. I don't know how you resolve that well.
Right - you invent a bunch of absurdly artificial rules to make the "guns" not actually guns at all. And also lots of rubberbanding and so on.
