A while back I had a quick go at modding Doom 3 to turn this cutscene into a half-life style scripted sequence. Like most of the cutscenes in Doom 3, it takes control of the camera to show you something that's happening right in front of you anyway. It's a bit broken here, but I always think Doom 3 needs a halflifeification mod. Fix all the cutscenes to not be cutscenes and do the HL1 follow/unfollow thing with the scientists and security guards. Would elevate the whole thing

Watching it, I kept thinking that if I didn't already know who the characters were (from previously playing Doom 3 and watching the cutscene) I'd have difficulty telling who is talking. There needs to be a bit more emphasis, I think, on who is talking at each moment - wider gesture, or something else to this effect.

when i think about it i always feel bad for this game for coming out three months before HL2. poor doom3, it had no idea what was coming, etc. or maybe it did but, unwisely, didn't care.
