And I've never read a book that was more like playing Phoenix Wright. The detective will go talk to someone and get a tiny bit of information. Then go talk to someone else. Then another person. Then some new evidence is found, so they go back to the first person and confront them with it, and get a bit more of the story. That will send them back to the third person to confront them with the inconsistency. And so on. Eventually the whole story is laid bare.
It sounds frustrating but it's actually not a bad read.
