I started this story and was like "oh yeah, this is the good King, a tight story that's really creepy" and then it hits what seems like the build-up to the climax and he's like "whoa whoa, let's slow this train down. You see, I need to EXPLAIN what's going on here..." and it kills the momentum and makes the story way less creepy and raises way more questions than I had when everything was just Creepy For Its Own Sake
