I guess this is my 2nd graphic novel by David Small? I'll admit I picked it up because of the name - though I was surprised by the added tagline "a novel".
I have mixed feelings. I read it, and I enjoyed it. It was fun, and interesting, and compelling, and sad. BUT, I really did not like the ending. It felt like a cop out. Especially because it's "a novel". I won't pedantically state that novels should have endings of a certain kind (e.g. "brings closure") and this isn't a case of my not liking a bad ending or a happy ending (in the sense of what happens to the protagonist). It's just that it felt like the book ended almost mid-page... I thought I'd perhaps missed a "don't miss volume 2"...but the ending wasn't even "cliffhangery".
Hmm. Mixed feelings.
