Many, many years ago I played an early version of the videogame EVE Valkyrie in VR at GDC. It was super fun and got me excited about the (then) new 2nd wave of VR. When the game eventually came out on PSVR I bought a copy, played it a few times and was kind of underwhelmed.

My guess is that this book came out for the launch of the game? (originally on Occulus I think? My recollection is that the PSVR version was later?) Anyways, I thought I'd give it a read...and it's a strange sad story I had trouble making sense of at times. I don't know if this is because of my lack of knowledge of the EVE universe? Or maybe not because it seems that one of the reveals of the book - and the sad part too - has to do with the cloning technology and such that's part of what makes the Valkyries work as a fighting unit? I guess I'd say that there were some interesting ideas, but since I had a hard time fully understanding what was going on, perhaps the overall impact of these ideas was lost on me?

I mean, the nutshell is that it's a story about an individual warrior/pilot who's amazing and then realizes that her individuality is "stolen" from her as clones are made and modified over the years. Who is she in the end? What is she fighting for? Is it all worth it?
