I haven't read the novel, so I though that graphic novel might be a good way for me to "get into it". I loved the art, but I must confess that (sadly) I was mostly confused and unsure of what was going on. Not in the sense of the plot or the "time period" but just...what it was all supposed to mean. I guess I should have read the novel first?

I don't want to NOT recommend it, because I loved the art and I understood the book's plot...but perhaps this one just wasn't for me?
