- need to draw a fairly complicated hand pose
- take a bunch of reference photos of my own hand
- spend like an hour trying to accurately draw the ref
- it's technically Accurate but doesn't line up with anything in the rest of the sketch and basically looks some kind of fucked up collage
- I then just freehand a totally different hand with no refs and zero understanding of the underlying anatomy in like fifteen minutes
- IT LOOKS WAY BETTER

carefully layout framework for hand, palm, fingers, ...
result looks stiff and awkward
try drawing a couple blobs instead, roughly where I've seen parts of a hand go before
result is exciting and dynamic and, quite honestly, better than the rest of the entire drawing
So now I just do the roulette-spin method of drawing blobs roughly where I've seen parts of a hand go before 🙃
