my number 1 advice to people who think/know they are autistic but don’t know how to unmask or support the level of distress they feel in their bodies is to make a playlist of songs that make u want to shake and let yourself stim/shake/jerk around intentionally and often (i don’t do this enough myself but the days i do i feel significantly better) (also u know the physical limits of ur body better than i do so adapt this to the level that feels feasible to ur physical range)

we’ve been trained to inhibit our impulses for repetitive movement and it can be hard to unlearn that, but music helps a lot imo and shaking can be a really excellent form of discharging overwhelming feelings and regulating the nervous system

Since playing Bomb Rush Cyberfunk I have gone back and listened to so much of Jet Set Radio's OST/Hideki Naganuma's music. A lot of the stuff is fairly repetitive while having a nice beat to move to. Even just shuffling my feet from side to side along with the music feels nice
