i still often wonder if we could turn posts here into collections or zines so people can take a look at their own pace rather than the pace of the timeline
i like that idea! i think in the way this website challenges certain social media conventions, it'd be cool to challenge the pace at which we see things and take them in, because i'm still very much in the habit of scrolling quickly through the timeline looking for new stuff but even if i like an art piece a lot, how much time am i really spending with it, a few seconds tops? something to work on in my own habits and expectations i suppose but i like the idea of encouraging a different pace through design
I might be guilty of this, I am certainly guilty of this when it comes to written work.
I wonder if our standard mode of engagement with social media is to blame, or maybe the design of social media itself. I tend to mindlessly scroll through the site when I'm tired or when I'm supposed to be doing something else, which is not conductive to paying attention. I don't know. That pain of working on something and getting no reply, I get it sometimes for my longer post. But then again, I would never want to force people to read them.
the mindless scroll is a good point and i'm sure it's a common enough way that one engages in social media
