Oil & acrylic on A5 canvas board. Prussian blue, titanium white, chrome yellow hue.
It's been a struggle to get painting done this last month. Life has stressors and what I do get done I'm not as happy with.
Introducing yellow into the palette has been interesting after the couple of monochrome works. I've done more than this piece, but I'm not happy with that work. This was an attempt to break out of just doing still life, which I find technically interesting but not so much creatively. I wanted to paint without a reference to see what happens and I got this. I continue to enjoy seeing @iri's work here and this was definitely a whisper that nudged me in this direction.
Doing an acrylic ink underpainting here was also interesting, I can see its purpose. I also ended up mostly thinning my paints with linseed oil, which meant I had to leave this on the easel for a whole week. The lack of fumes is a great boon.
I've picked up some A4 canvas boards now too, and am looking forward to when it's calm enough to sit down and just focus on those. I've also picked up Bright Red, which will complicate and distress my relationship to physical paints further.
