it's really funny how for years we were told "hollywood and video game 'lockpicking' is very unrealistic, it really takes like several minutes to pick a lock" and then at one point lockpicking youtube became a thing and it became widely known that many commercial locks are just so badly made that they'll pop open at the slightest provocation, meaning it IS realistic to use a simple lockpick to get into a lock in ten seconds

in reply to @bruno's post:

there are also a couple of "generic" keys you can find on Amazon if you know what to look for (I got mine a decade ago so I don't remember what they're called).

one of them opens 75% of locked filing cabinets; not that useful.

the other opens 90% of locked restrooms in places like fast food stores and gas stations; very useful.

the CH751 key is used in so many places where a manufacturer went "this needs a lock, I guess. Hey, someone go phone around and get us a lock for this cabinet. ... Yeah I dunno, man, just a fucken ... cheap lock, I guess!"

(And so you end up with, as DeviantOllam has pointed out several times before, all the keys to the building locked in a box, that is itself locked with a key you can get just about anywhere, for a couple of bucks)
