Room - Mushroom Forest, Empty Cavern, Crypt
Squeezing under some debris near the ore shaft, Doddot emerges into a fungal paradise. Hundreds of mushrooms grow on every surface, all shapes, sizes, and colours. Spores swirl around her as she rises, so palpably thick in the air. The sound is naught, dampened by whispering mycelium.
Many of the mushrooms are edible. "Hamgard's gonna have a field day", she thinks to herself. Some of the mushrooms are not, but Doddot has already used the one thought she gives to topics as a rule.
Unable to see the path for the trees, she turns and heads back to the handyman village. Time to explore the other direction.
She really wishes she hadn't. She immediately stumbles into the handymen's charnel house. A thick, gooey nectar coats every surface, regurgitated by handymen when they've finished digesting. Bones hang suspended in the translucent mixture as evidence, many of them dwarven.
Doddot hates the smell of petrichor that pervades this room.
Doddot's out of there the very second a skeletal jaw cracks open. She scurries back up to the main hold floor, dispatching the mages to deal with what ever she just woke up.
The mages saunter back inside of fifteen minutes.
Hithharg spins a pelvis around his forearm with a cheery carelessness as he informs Doddot that the threat had been 'thoroughly neutralized'. He can't keep the smugness from his voice. The mages are keen to get back to the library, grabbing a keg from the kitchen for a 'private celebration' as they go.

World Notes
Dramatis Personae
- Doddot Dimorc - The ostensible protagonist mining the caves beneath her family hold. A bit dim herself.
- Hamgard - The chef! He's never been a chef before, but he's figuring it out quickly.
- Sandwich - Doddot's gross white cat, hatchling of the Pawtral magical room. He accompanies Doddot on her adventures.
Historical Events
- The Cat Fight - Doddot's first significant military victory, a skirmish that took place in the Pawtral magic room. Mages and Soldiers bravely fended off an onslaught of handyman, using the ladder as a chokepoint. The Felling of Warmaster Donir - The first ancient monstrosity slain by the dwarves of Dimorc hold, Warmaster Donir was slain by an unbroken line of mages. It serves as reminder of the terrifying potential of magic to this day.
Takeaways
- Mages - a great early game investment. No regrets. Time to turn them into a frat.
- More of a moon-and-skull kinda queer myself.
