It’s always nice when you’re reading a book by a cis man in a genre that is largely written by and for cis men and you come across a lesbian character that is a believable human character who isn’t fetishized, infantilized, or treated as someone who’s secretly into men. Like… This character is a relentless flirt with women but it’s played more as “womanizer friend” trope than anything weird, she goes on dates with women but they aren’t described in ways that appeal to the male gaze, and her being a lesbian meant she literally was immune to incubus charm spells because she has zero interest in men.
And of all fucking things I find this character in a goddamn LitRPG harem story?? Color me impressed.
Like to be clear I’m not saying this is an expertly done character. She is a horny bard and her entire personality is wanting to be horny with beautiful women and get better at adventuring so she can have a lesbian harem of her own. But…hell, I know real life lesbians like that. I am a real life lesbian like that. So I feel seen, not judged or othered.
