i am wearing a bright yellow jacket
it is supposed to prevent people from hurting me
yet all it does is invite people to hurt me
a lot
all of the time
and while they are hurting me
like i am wearing some kind of "kick me" sign on my back
i am supposed to simply
ignore them
and keep working
and keep going
and keep acting like the high vis jacket is protecting me from harm
maybe someday the high vis jacket will do its job
today all i want to do is throw it into a fire
the fire will be visible
and i will disappear
