this was my first ever mountain coaster! if you’re out in the smokies visiting dollywood, taking the time to ride some alpine coasters is definitely worth it. we picked rocky top due to a variety of factors—it’s the longest, it has 4 lift hills, and someone at coaster con said it smelled the best.
that last thing is definitely true. it smelled amazing back in these woods. the way alpine coasters work is that they’re just big single rail contraptions that can go way up into a mountain forest without disrupting the ecosystem too heavily.
it was a really lovely day, little bit of rain coming down the mountain. the lightweight theming they have along the track is pretty cute, and it’s just super gorgeous. plus its… i mean it’s a 9 minute long ride. you’re on this thing forever. it goes about 25 MPH at its peak so it’s moderately thrilling, and overall i’m glad i got a chance to ride this!
i’m not assigning alpine coasters to my tier list. credit 148.
