I post about Kamen Rider, and also living in a failed democracy that distracts me from enjoying Kamen Rider.

Alright. Let's talk American Politics.

I think a lot of people are forgetting or misremembering that the democrats have never taken a single left wing stance since at least 1990. Whenever a progressive issue comes up, Republicans oppose and democrats are split.
On the issue of universal healthcare? Republicans universally oppose, Democrats were split. Eventually democrats pass a republican plan because it's the most right wing options on the table.
On the issue of marriage equality? Republicans universally oppose, Democrats are split. Eventually handled by the Supreme Court, enraging Republicans and allowing Democrats to go back to getting paid to do nothing.
On the issue of the War in Iraq? Republicans universally agree, Democrats almost universally agree. Eventually leads to a complete catastrophic failure from any objective point of view including the imperialist one advanced by both parties.
Same with Afghanistan.
On the issue of censoring the entire internet? Both parties unilaterally agree but are shouted down by a campaign from real people.
Also they're trying this again. Also the Tik Tok ban is taking the same trajectory.
And now, on the issue over whether trans people should be murdered? Republicans universally agree, Democrats are split.
The Democrats are not a left wing party. They are a more moderate right wing party that serves as a buffer shield between the two outcomes they hate the most: Republican Theocracy or a government that represents the people.
When Democrats say they want to appeal to moderates, they mean they want to appeal to conservatives politicians in DC who are thinking of leaving their party for the Republicans.
Is there a solution to this? Probably, but I'll leave you to figure that out.
