I was moving into a shared house (with family? friends? coworkers? i can't recall) and the bedroom that was going to be mine had a urinal and a toilet inside it (with those privacy dividers), both on carpeted floor. When I pointed this out and how fucked up it was, everyone told me to stop being so picky and to go take care of something else.
When I came back, I had been moved to a different room which had no public restroom fixtures in it, but instead had a full length sliding glass door with no curtains or blinds. It was on the ground floor of the building (now an apartment building? i think?) and a man was standing directly outside it having a loud, long, abrasive phone call on his cell phone, in full view of my bed.
When I eloquently asked what the fuck, I was told that this room used to be a covered parking space, but they converted it into a master bedroom by just putting glass around it. Apparently many tens of thousands had been spent masking the motor oil smell.
