i went to the post office last night to drop off a netflix disc, because i'm actually posting this from fifteen years ago. it was about 9:30 at night and there was no one else in the parking lot when i got there. but when i came out of the lobby after dropping it in the night slot, there was a group of about five or so stray cats at the far end of the lot exhibiting what i can only call "skateboard kid" energy, alternately lounging on the raised rock wall by the sidewalk or playing with each other running back and forth. they didn't even scatter when i drove near them to exit the parking lot, they just all sat to the side and stared at me.
