here i was ready to praise excel last week for having a SWITCH() formula so i could avoid nested ifs but then i finished up the whole file and moved it over to the computer that it's going to live on and, oops, SWITCH() was implemented in Excel 2016 and this computer runs 2013. back to the nested ifs.
