Clarice Lispector, known in Brazil as “Hurricane Clarice”, is one of Brazil’s and the 20th century’s most important authors, a woman who took inspiration from the modernists and pushed the Portuguese language past its breaking point to shape it into new, strange and groundbreaking forms.
But perhaps more importantly is that, unlike all those other woman authors who I think are frumpy and unattractive, Clarice Lispector was famously beautiful.
