I've never really liked A Link to the Past all that much, but I just did my first 100% playthrough and there were some things I really liked about it that I never fully appreciated before.
I really like how the skull woods dungeon incorporates the overworld so much, such that I would consider the entire forest to be part of the dungeon. And there was a puzzle in the ice dungeon that pleasantly surprised me because it genuinely made me think about how the rooms were connected and plan a path to traverse them (and I really wish I saw more of that in Zelda!).
This game definitely has plenty of charms to it, that I think I took for granted because I'm so used to future games (Zelda and otherwise) reusing those ideas heavily. That said, I'm still not enamored by the game, since my gripes from before are still present, but I now see the game in a more positive light. And it's definitely much better than Twilight Princess.
