I think that making deeply self-indulgent porn is a good way to make peace with how your work can’t be all things to all people, you have to make genuine tradeoffs about what gets focus and trust that the people who aren’t into it will peacefully self-select out of your audience
Like, otherwise it’ll feel at best unfocused and at worst exhaustively baby-proofed against people who are still gonna be pissants about it regardless
If I tried to make my writing "marketable" or for a "large audience" it wouldn't be able to exist as it is, and yea it feels really nice to make these things that most people will hate but that I love
