i genuinely think the "consumption as morality" mindset comes down to how easy it becomes to judge somebody you don't know. jan q twitter doesn't need to speak to you to take your measure, they only need to look at your timeline. oh, they have Greymorals-hime fanart in their media tab... that's gonna be a yikes from me. no need to open yourself up to someone who could potentially be a bigot when you can write them off for enjoying something that isn't up to standards
