Amazing that this (electric!) locomotive is from 1937! It was restored and is used nowadays for heritage train events here in Italy.

I watched the video. It's so quiet!

Some folks might think “well yeah, it's electric”, but San Francisco streetcars are much louder than this, from the old PCC and Peter Witt streetcars to the modern LRVs. This one was barely audible until it was almost right next to you. I wonder what differences are responsible for that.

Not sure! It is very quiet though, yeah. And definitely sounds very different than modern electric locos, which have more fans and electronic drives. I've got more footage of it that I need to upload once I have time
