I can still kinda taste its aftertaste in my mouth now.
(She washed it down with White Claw seconds after trying it.)
It tastes a bit like when you accidentally drink bug spray.
(That wording. "when you" as opposed to "as if you". Hm.)

tried it once. dire. from my experience with that, rakı, ouzo, Fernet, and an Icelandic herbal thing whose name I forget… if someone offers you a Traditional Drink you are about to have a bad time
Brennivín, which is made with caraway? I actually like that, ahaha. …and ouzo as well!
But yeah, it's definitely an unapproachable category of drink!
had to look it up and I think it wasn’t Brennivin—there’s a pair of newer ones, Björk and Birkir, both made from birch, and I’m pretty sure it was those.
unapproachable is a good word for it. they all definitely have their fans—one of my teammates is a big Fernet person and my dad loves ouzo. first time I tried it was when he played that in Scrabble, I challenged it, and he brought out a bottle. lesson learned.
