Yeah, I get the impression my apparent accent shifts a bit to align with the setting that I'm in, but definitely, anyone from not Vancouver seems to be able to pin down where I'm from pretty quickly. (And I'd imagine that 99.75% of people here think I'm a local, but obviously, no one ever points that out.)

as a kid i had fellow kids tell me i had an accent, but they didnΒ΄t specify which. i dont think my accent actually varies drastically from any of my fellow southern californians. i can sometimes hear myself say things "wrong" though, like using "incorrect" vowel qualities ("incorrect" per my accent). i don't think i do that any more than most people though.

I get this but people ask if I’m from Canada and I tell them my great grandma was born in Quebec and my mom is from Maine and maybe that I had friends who were from New Brunswick and Ontario

I do not tell them that I binge watched all of Degrassi from 2001 through 2017 over the course of like two weeks and permanently altered how I say β€œsorry”
